WANTED … People to be Sacristans

It is with great sadness that one of our Parish Sacristans, Bobbie Will, has retired.  Bobbie has given wonderful service and support for the priests over many years.  This leaves a vacancy (or a couple of vacancies) for the position of Sacristan.  If any person or perhaps several persons are interested, then please contact Fr Brian as soon as possible.   There is a basic outline of what is required – regarding time needed and tasks required.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bobbie for her dedication and ministry to everyone in our Parish Family.  In the words of St Paul, “I constantly thank God for you …”

Re-appointment of Fr Brian

During the last week, I received confirmation of my re-appointment as Parish Priest here at St Joseph’s for the next two years.  My normal 6 year term was due to expire at the end of the year and the Archbishop and my Provincial have kindly allowed me to stay on for another couple of years.

Church Renovation

With thanks to the weather, the outside works are going along apace.  While we are still behind on the outside works, we are catching up … and the interior works are on schedule.  So, hopefully our opening (moving back to the Church) will occur on schedule (early December).  By the way, the new disability ramp was poured during the week, as were the new steps on the eastern exit.  The “planter boxes” were also completed.  The artist for the feature window has given an initial draft which captures the idea of forgiveness and acceptance of Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well.  Our understanding of Baptism and new life is also highlighted with the image of water in the draft.

Other things happening with the Church are the design of the Baptismal font (to be made out of granite and with “flowing water”) and the altar.  All our altar furnishings are going to be made out of Australian ironbark.

Thanks for your support of this.

I hope to have a brief video or PowerPoint presentation of the church renovations available in the next couple of weeks.
